Discover AudioActive: Brighton’s Hub for Young Creators
Are you 12–25 and love music, creativity, or just want a space to be yourself? Then AudioActive might be just the place for you.
Founded in 1999 by a small group of music lovers and youth workers, AudioActive began with a simple mission: to make music accessible to all young people, no matter your background. What started as a handful of community sessions has grown into a county-wide movement, helping young people build confidence, creativity, and connection through free, open-access opportunities.
AudioActive has roots in Black and underground music, and over time has expanded to include a wide range of genres, from grime, jazz, and soul to spoken word and production. Today, the charity connects a network of artists, mentors, and young people experimenting across sounds and styles, and shaping the next generation of creative talent and social change across Sussex.
Brighton Sessions at Moulsecoomb Place
Opened in September 2025, AudioActive Brighton at Moulsecoomb Place represents a new chapter for both the charity and the local community. Developed in partnership with East Brighton Trust, this creative hub brings free-to-access music programmes to an area of the city that has long been underfunded for the arts.
Set within a historic landmark site, the hub features:
- Music production studios and rehearsal rooms
- Event and meeting spaces
- Community areas designed for collaboration and creativity
It is a place where young people can learn, experiment, and grow, supported by mentors, artists, and industry professionals who understand the power of music to build confidence and connection.
