Bates Estate: A Weekend of Community Spirit at Moulsecoomb Place
Get ready for a fantastic weekend as Bates Estate and East Brighton Trust hosts two exciting community events at Moulsecoomb Place, Lewes Road, Brighton. Whether you’re looking for family fun, delicious food or the chance to find a bargain, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
The weekend begins on Saturday 5th September, with the Bates Estate Community Day running from 12pm to 4pm. With free entry, the event is packed with activities for all ages, including giant games, family-friendly entertainment, a BBQ, candyfloss and popcorn. It’s the perfect opportunity to spend quality time with family and friends while meeting neighbours and celebrating everything that makes the local community so special.

The fun continues on Sunday 6th September with the Carless Boot Sale. Sellers can set up from 8:00am, with buyers welcome from 8:30am. Whether you’re clearing out unwanted items or searching for hidden treasures, the boot sale is a great way to recycle, reuse and support sustainable living. Seller pitches are available for £5 for a single space or £9 for a double space, making it an affordable way to earn a little extra while giving pre-loved items a new home.
If you’re looking to pre-book a slot then make sure to email at batesestatecommunity@gmail.com, whether you want to pay before the event or when you’re there.
Both events are made possible through the continued collaboration with East Brighton Trust, whose support helps strengthen communities across East Brighton. By working alongside local organisations, East Brighton Trust invests in projects and events that improve wellbeing, reduce social isolation and encourage people of all ages to get involved in their neighbourhood.
Their partnership with Bates Estate helps create welcoming, inclusive spaces where residents can connect, build friendships and celebrate their community. Events like these not only provide entertainment but also encourage community pride, support local initiatives and create lasting relationships between neighbours.
Whether you’re enjoying the Community Day with your family or browsing the stalls at the Carless Boot Sale, every visitor plays a part in making these events a success. They are a celebration of togetherness, sustainability and the strong community spirit that continues to grow across Bates Estate.
We look forward to welcoming everyone for a memorable weekend of fun, friendship and community pride. Bring your family, invite your neighbours and join us in celebrating everything that makes Moulsecoomb a beautiful place to be.
