An East Brighton Trust grant came in handy recently when Moulsecoomb Forest Garden applied to us for funding for their open day in July. The Forest Garden is a project specialising in outdoor education and offers horticultural, carpentry, woodland management, cooking, educational and social opportunities to everyone.

The Open Day is a chance for the Forest Garden team to showcase their fantastic work and this year all sorts of skills were demonstrated by those involved with the garden including staff, local school pupils, adults with learning difficulties and volunteers. Pizza making, bushcraft skills, practical bee talks, wildlife walks, garden tips and tours were all on offer to this year's 150 attendees as well as green wood working exhibitions, smoothie biking, pond dipping and a woodland walk. Local MP Simon Kirby got in on the action with a go on the smoothie bike and Huw Morgan of the Sussex Wildlife Trust was on hand to introduce local people to pond dipping.

The Forest Garden sent us some pictures to show us how the day went.
