A Community Drop-In for Whitehawk at St Cuthman's

Posted on

St Cuthman’s Church in Whitehawk received funding from East Brighton Trust in our June 2014 grants round to support their community drop-in.

Fundraiser Sara Marsden-King got in touch to give us an update on how the project is proceeding.

“Since receiving your funding we have enlarged the remit of our project.  We now run a café out of St Cuthman’s every week.  During this time debt advice (via Christians Against Poverty trained volunteers) is available, and from this week a foodbank (in partnership with The Trussell Trust) is also accessible.  We are also working with the Money Advice Centre to have someone available to provide benefits advice.  Volunteers man the Café, building trust and relationships with individuals in order to better assist with financial, etc problems they may be having. These volunteers are trained to be able to best signpost individuals on to appropriate support.

We are very excited about these new developments, and are thankful for your support in getting here.”
