The textile
reuse Hub
The Textile Reuse Hub (TRH) promotes textile reuse in Brighton, empowering marginalised communities to save money, reduce landfill waste, and embrace sustainable practices.
Encouraging Creativity & Fostering a Circular Economy
The Textile Reuse Hub (TRH) not only provides individuals with opportunities to repurpose and upcycle textiles but also nurtures a deeper understanding of sustainable practices. This approach empowers community members to engage with their resources thoughtfully, leading to reduced waste and a more responsible consumption mindset. Ultimately, TRH’s initiatives create a ripple effect, enhancing the quality of life for participants while contributing to the overall health of the environment.
A collaborative effort
The TRH is a collaboration of Gladrags, Left Over Threads, and Smarter Uniforms. Operating from the Westergate Business Centre, TRH is supported by the East Brighton Trust’s social investment programme. This partnership amplifies TRH’s mission to create a positive impact on both the community and the environment through innovative textile reuse initiatives.
The Mission
The Textile Reuse Hub aims to:
- Boost Textile Reuse: Increase the circulation of existing textiles in our local community
- Support Individuals: Assist those affected by the rising cost of living by promoting second-hand and repurposed clothing and offering repair assistance.
- Raise Awareness: Educate the community on the environmental impact of textile waste and the importance of sustainable practices.
We aim to connect with like-minded organisations to:
- Enhance Reuse Efforts:
- Strengthen textile reuse initiatives across Brighton and Hove
- Share Resources: Exchange ideas and resources to build a more sustainable community
- Promote Events: Collaborate on events and initiatives that focus on sustainability.
- Foster Collaboration: Build connections and partnerships within the local area.
