Something To Write Home About
Writing Workshop with author Melanie Bell at the Textile Reuse Hub
East Brighton Trust’s Textile Reuse Hub was the venue for an inspiring and informative writing workshop at the weekend, where author Melanie Bell was facilitating a creative fundraiser in aid of local charity Survivors Network.
Melanie spoke about her experiences as an author and editor, how she wanted to be a writer from when she was a toddler, and how she published her first book at the age of 15.
The workshop saw an uplifting afternoon, with engaging activities and a supportive and immersed group of writers, at all levels of their wordsmith journeys.
Opportunities to take part in guided writing activities and to share and hear freshly-written pieces within the group, with feedback, were thought-provoking, as were discussions around writing-based barriers and hurdles.
Speaking about the event afterwards, Melanie told us,
“The writing workshop participants were dynamic, engaged, and had great questions about the writing process. I like how they all learned from each other”
