The Skep, The Venue At Moulsecoomb Place, Arriving Early 2026

In 2026, East Brighton Trust will open the doors to The Skep, a new venue at Moulsecoomb Place, a shared space designed to bring local residents, businesses and community groups together for shared experiences. The Skep name comes from the traditional straw or wicker beehive, a simple conical shelter that has housed bees for centuries and supported shared industry and activity. The concept was designed by students from Longhill School during work experience week, led by EBT with Victoria Jackson, a biophilic designer, and it captures the spirit of what we are creating here, a place built to hold collective energy, creativity and purpose.

While we are keeping some details under wraps for now, we can say this: The Skep has been created as a warm, flexible environment that can cater for a variety of events and occasions. It is a space made for meeting, making and imagining, shaped by the people who use it.

The Skep will welcome a wide mix of people, from local residents and families looking for a friendly place to meet, to creative practitioners, makers, arts organisations, businesses and community groups seeking space to collaborate, host activities or strengthen local connections. It will also offer a more grounded setting for corporate away days and team-building, with even a few plans emerging for those dreaming up memorable weddings and celebrations.

All of these threads will weave together to create the buzz inside The Skep.

Over the coming months, we will be revealing more about the space, what it includes, how it will work and how you can get involved. We will be sharing more details soon and we hope you will follow along as The Skep develops.

Follow along, stay connected and watch The Skep take shape.
