Operations Manager, East Brighton Trust

Full-time, 37.5 hours per week

Do you want a key role in running a dynamic community development organisation in Brighton?

East Brighton Trust supports and builds local community organisations as a trusts and grants provider and develops, coordinates and funds projects, partnerships and collaborations that meet its impact pillars of education attainment and aspiration, health and well-being, and community cohesion. East Brighton Trust also invests in dynamic skills-based organisations and community assets that drive social impact and innovation in East Brighton.

As the Operations Manager, you will work across multiple areas within the organisation, assuring productivity, efficiency and compliance. You will supervise the overall functioning of business operations, including finances, governance, policies, marketing and goal-setting. Working as part of a small team, this is a very hands-on role.

You must have a commercial skillset too as the role involves proactive management of tenancies, minimising vacant units and working with the CEO to invest the organisation’s funds productively to secure sustainable income and capital growth.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Finance and budgeting.
  • Helping to create, promote and deliver projects including social investment projects, community events and activities.
  • Facilities management for the Westergate Business Centre including responsibility for fee negotiations and the repairs and maintenance contractors.
  • Governance of the Trust including safeguarding and risk assessment responsibilities and assisting with the recruitment of new Trustees.
  • You must have some experience in all these areas, and especially experience in the non profit sector and working with community organisations.

Ideal candidate profile:

  • Proven experience in operational management, preferably with 3rd sector/ non-profit
  • Strong project management and administrative skills
  • Very organised and efficient with processes and procedures
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strategic thinker, capable of solving complex problems
  • Experience with budget management and control
  • Understanding of digital marketing strategies
  • Understanding and experience in organisational governance

Salary £35,000 – £39,000 depending on experience
