Writer’s Block Launches with Spoken Word Night at The Skep, Moulsecoomb Place

A new spoken word night is coming to The Skep, the venue at Moulsecoomb Place this March.

Writer’s Block, hosted by Culture Shift and supported by East Brighton Trust, will launch with an evening of poetry, performance and open mic in celebration of World Poetry Day.

Taking place on Wednesday 18 March from 7-10pm, the night will be hosted by award-winning spoken word artist Flo Poet Woodzy, bringing together poets, writers and audiences for a welcoming evening of live performance.

A New Spoken Word Night for East Brighton

Writer’s Block aims to create a regular space where writers and performers can share their work, experiment with new ideas and connect with others who love spoken word.

The launch event will feature a mix of live performances and open mic slots, creating an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for both experienced performers and people who may be sharing their work publicly for the first time.

Whether you want to perform or simply come along to listen, the evening is designed to be open, welcoming and full of creative energy.

Hosted at The Skep at Moulsecoomb Place

The event takes place at The Skep, the shared venue at the heart of Moulsecoomb Place.

Developed by East Brighton Trust, Moulsecoomb Place is a home for creativity, collaboration and community activity in East Brighton. Inside the historic Manor House, creative organisations including Culture Shift, AudioActive, Vincent Dance Theatre and Brighton People’s Theatre are working together to develop new opportunities for local residents to connect, learn and take part in cultural life.

Launching Writer’s Block here reflects that wider vision: creating spaces where local voices, creativity and ideas can be shared and celebrated.
